  Tip: In Spain, unlike in the States, bread served with a meal or tapas is not included in the price. If you don't want to have a surprise at the end when the bill comes always ask if the bread is included or else be prepared to pay at least 4 euros for the little basket next to you.

  Let me set the stage: Just after sunset, Madrid is just starting to get cold, it's rainy and the street lamps are just starting to wake up in the distance we see a lovely little glass structure and we walk towards it. In the middle of a 1800s plaza we see a market enclosed with glass on all sides filled with light and warmth and with the smells of Spaniard seeping out of the doors.

  Mercado de San Miguel is the perfect place to get some tapas and sit in a great atmosphere. Make the rounds! Each side has something new to offer for a light snack or a variable dinner. We always have the Sherries from Jerez when we go anywhere in Spain.
